Sage Salvia officinalis
Sage
is one of the classic culinary herbs that should have it's rightful
place in the medicine chest as well. Sage is excellent as a general tonic as either Sage Tea or Sage Wine. The tea can be used as a mouthwash or for mild cases of constipation
Salad
Burnett
Sanguisorba minor
The taste of the leaves is very fresh and reminiscent of Borage or cucumber. In fact, if you love the taste of cucumber but are unable to digest it well then this herb will satisfy you without the regrets afterwards.
Salad
Rocket
Eruca vesicaria
The
young leaves have an unmistakeable tangy bite which matures and
intensifies as the plant gets older. Added to salads or lightly
steamed the flowers as well as the leaves are great in the kitchen.
Self Heal Prunella vulgaris
The
spreading root system ensures that the plant will creep around to
the spot it likes best. The leaves are used for a myriad of problems
from sore throats to to hypertension.

Shepherds Purse Capsella bursa-pastoris
Flowering
all year round but most heavily in late winter, it is used primarily
to stimulate circulation and constrict blood vessels which makes it
of great use for varicose veins or excess bleeding.
50+ seeds - $3.50
Skullcap (Virginia) Scutellaria lateriflora
As
a nerve tonic it is gentle but effective. A tea is commonly taken
for anxiety, depression, nervous exhaustion, PMS and rheumatism.
Snake Beans Vigna unguiculata
The
ultimate climber, this bean can spread several metres at quite a
rapid rate. It is a prolific bearer of fruit and the beans can range
from 30cm to 60cm in length.

Soapwort Saponaria officinalis
The
roots, stems and leaves contain saponins which soften water,
creating a gentle wash for sensitive hair and skin.
20+ seeds - $4.50
St.Mary's Thistle Silybum marianum
While
the whole plant is edible, it does not always look it. The main use
is the seed which can be collected in summer or Spring and is often
taken for liver damage or gall bladder disorders.
Stevia Stevia rebaudiana
Gaining
more and more popularity as a sugar substitute, Stevia is easy to
grow and easy to harvest. It grows as a perennial in warmer climates
but as an annual in the colder situations.
Sun Flower Red Velvet
The
deep Australian Red Gold colour is wonderful as is their habit of
shooting many flowering branches from the typical sturdy sunflower
stem.
Sun Flower Giant Russian or Mammoth
Clearly
the largest flowers you will grow in the garden, these annuals reach
up to 2.5m tall with heads that average 30-40cm across.
Sun Opener Heimia salicifolia
Sinicuichi
sun opener is a great addition to any garden.
A delightful small shrub that is deciduous in cooler climates but
we have found it evergreen in sunny Queensland.
Sweet Violet Viola odorata
The slight laxative effect can be beneficial. Probably because of the presence of Salicylic acid in the leaves and flowers, it makes a great 'calming' herb, relieving throat complaints as well.
Tarragon (Inca) Tagetes minuta
As a natural herbicide and insecticide it is unpanelled. A slow tea made from all aerial parts, left to sit submerged for up to seven days, can be sprayed at times of insect invasion to reduce the damage on vulnerable crops.
20+ seeds - $3.50
Tarragon (Russian) Artemisia dracunculus
This Tarragon has narrow, pale green leaves and from a culinary point of view it lacks the aniseed undertones of both the Mexican and French.
The leaves contain iodine, mineral salts and vitamins A and C.
100+ seeds - $3.50
Thorn Apple Datura stramonium
A
curious little plant, this one. The scent of the flowers is
unmistakable but hard to classify.
It is very easy to grow but seems to do best when left to seed
itself in the garden rather than being raised in the nursery.
20+ seeds - $3.50
Tobacco (Native) Nicotiana gossei
It does best with some winter sun so around deciduous trees seems to be ideal, and the evening scent is beautiful, delicate and green.
Germination is fast (5-7 days) but our best results are planting where you intend to grow it as it does not always transplant well.
100+ seeds - $3.50
Tomato (San Marzano)
Low growing and sturdy, this is a very practical tomato if you don't have much space.
It grows well in large pots and as long as it is well fed, it is not prone to major insect attacks.
20+ seeds - $3.50
Toothache Plant Spilanthes acmella
It stimulates the flow of salvia which cleanses the mouth, tones the gums, and enhances
immune function. Spilanthes also improves digestion, eases flatulence, improves the appetite, and helps to
overcome nausea and vomiting by its stimulating effect on the salivary glands.
25+ seeds - $3.50
Veld Grape Cissus quadrangularis
An
odd little relative of the grape family, it looks like a thornless
cactus with grape leaves stuck on. The herb however is a very potent
one, becoming the darling of the 'bench press' set, for it's bone
and muscle healing properties.
Completely out of stock until next harvest, sorry.
