The boiled leaves produce a slightly sweet and reasonably refreshing tea and it does make a nice base for a summer 'iced tea' when combined with lycium berry, Stevia leaves and tonic water.

A grey-blue dye is supposedly obtained from the flowers although we have not done so.

Pre-soak the seed for 24 hours in warm water before planting into seed raising mix.

It will happily ramble over some unsightly aspect in the yard or will climb nicely over a pre- organised trellis or arch.
